This publication is a reflection on memory, cultural history, and how a place like a field fits within the thinking of those who inhabit it, or pass it by.

Through essay and image it started as a consideration of the 2025 land based film activation, Me&You&Us&Them; a short film that was screened in a field, visible only from the road. The field, in a townland in south Carlow called Kilcumney, was once the site of a 1798 Irish Rebellion battle, and now sits on a busy country road.

Contributions are from curator and writer Catherine Marshall; and Rosie O’Gorman, artist and director of Cow House Studios. Design by Alex Synge.

This publication came about with support from Carlow Arts Office and Artlinks.
